We've all learned it: 1+1=2
At least in theory, you could say that it's always true. But in the real world, one and one isn't always two. An example? Sure! One drop of water plus another drop of water? Hmmm... two drops of water? No. One bigger drop of water? Liquids don't like maths, ey?
Sure, anyone could argue that this is a stupid example, since the mass of the two drops fusion to one bigger mass, which leads to say that "so-many" molecules of water are added to "so-many" molecules of water and you'd be back to mathematical logic. But visualy, the two drops become one. That's an undeniable fact.
Same goes for "positive+negative=nothing"... so one and one isn't always two. It all depends what you put together, how you put it together... more clearly, it depends on variables and circumstances.
Now, one thing, one constant of which everyone of us knows that it's unvariable is: death. Death is actually the only real constant there is, of which we are totaly certain and to which there is no "rule" nor "exception". Everything else out there is more or less a theory. Death is a rather abstract concept and strangly applies to many things (actually, to everything). A sun can die for example. Funny, since a sun isn't a living thing. A river can run dry, and therefore die too. Again, a river isn't a living thing, but the fact that it disappears gives us the feeling that it's dead. A rock can erode and become sand. Somehow (through rain, wind, frost, etc.), it ages and dies since it loses its former shape up until it disappears. As you'll have understood by now, the concept of death resides more in the terms of "disappearance" or "loss"... even "inexistence", rather than in the end of a living creature.
You'll probably ask yourself "What the hell is this guy talking about?". Well, it's actually pretty simple. Even death (not mortality), isn't necessarly understood properly, even though it's the only certain thing we actually know about. I mean, ask someone: "Will you die one day?" and if the answer isn't "yes", call the nearest sanatorium.
What bugs me the most is to hear "experts", yes! even so-called "scientists" making affirmations, denying theories, possibilities even facts just because it fits their needs and reputation (or even because these aren't "popular"). Or because they're incapable of opening their minds to ideas which would possibly make them feel like idiots (what they are) just because they might have believed in something wrong for so long... it's sometimes easier to live with a lie, isn't it? I'm not just blaming scientists or experts for this monolithic behavior. I actually blame 95% of the human population on this planet. It's so sad to be surrounded by potentialy intelligent people who have so many beliefs, but don't dare questionning them until it hurts or makes them feel like idiots.
As a very wise man once said: It's not the answer that is important, it's the question.
Nothing is certain but death, so never assume you're right just because you were told or taught so.
