Bruce Campbell is back!

Last night I've watched a movie that I had found at my local dealer and after seeing it, I just HAD to write a review about it. The movie's called Bubba Ho-Tep. It's been shot in 2003 and it's a freaking shame that it took it so long to "swim" over to europe, since it's a fucking masterpiece of a sadly very underestimated genre (a mix of black humor and horror).

I didn't know much about this movie... I had heard a couple of people talking about it, I saw the cover of the DVD on amazon and that's it. What motivated me to buy this AWESOME piece of moviemaking, was the presence of Bruce Campbell in the leading role. For those who do not know Bruce, he's played the cynical role of "Ash" in Sam Raimi's 3 parts of the Evil Dead trilogy, best known for it's third part entitled "Army of Darkness" which has already reached cult status (now, if you haven't seen this movie, get the fuck away from my blog and only return after watching it). Bruce also played other very interesting caracters in other movies and in TV shows, like his superb guest performance as a demon in an X-Files show a couple of years ago. Still, most people just identify him through his performance in Evil Dead as a chainsaw wielding, evil demon smashing maniac who only wants his dull life back.

If you're a fan of the Evil Dead trilogy and most importantly of it's third and last instance, you'll be glad (as I am) to hear that Bruce Campbell is back in a role and movie which fits his talents like a glove.

Bubba Ho-Tep is... well, a very wicked movie, in the same vein as Evil Dead. Understand that it combines horror elements with totaly insane supernatural events, all spiced up with a dose of the darkest black humor of the n-nth degree you will find. So, the story goes something like this:
The broken real-fake-real Elvis Presley has to match up with the ex-president of the USA, John F. Kennedy, who's been turned black and carries a sack of sand in half of his brain, against an ancient cowboy-boots wearing mummy who uses the residents of a retirement home in Texas as food.

...

Yeah, I know. Sounds like the most stupid thing you've ever heard. And you know what? It is. But worse is, it all kind of makes sense when watching this incredible movie... I mean, the entire situation is totally nuts, but thanks to the outstanding performance of Bruce Campbell and his compadrè, you won't be able to hold yourself back from laughing your ass off. I did!

I really... REALLY FUCKING recommend this movie if you've liked Evil Dead. I even COMMAND you to BUY this movie!!! This is NO JOKE! You MUST own your copy of this awesome piece of cinematography. If you should disobey, may you be damned and suffer the malediction of the ass-sucking mummy!

Shake it baby!
