The Woods of Netherlight

I woke up, feeling all numb... still tired. I plunged my hands into the fresh, wet earth. My skin was cold, like it was covered with wounds, which did not hurt. I could smell the vegetation and my heart started to pound harder and harder. I wasn't sure if I should open my eyes at first, but curiosity was stronger than fear and anxious thoughts. The first picture was blurry... thin rays of light broke through the massive branches of dark, tall oak trees, which seemed to rise their leaves furnished arms and hands to cover me from the sun. The picture got clearer with each time my lids closed and opened again. I slowly stood up, trying to keep my balance. I was covered with mud from head to toes, insects crawling all over me... a strange feeling... like being suddenly really a part of nature... an immense and overwhelming feeling. I really felt at home, surrounded by friends and familiars.

I looked around and there was no one there, although I could sense someone watching. I wanted to search, but there was no way for me to move... my feet where firmly rooted into the soil. Suddenly, a dark, black bird broke through the leave coverage above, throwing a menacing shadow on me. It went down straight on my right shoulder and began to pick insects from my neck. I watched it for a couple of seconds without turning my head.

Until I heard a whisper carried by a breeze which said:

"Welcome to the Woods of Netherlight, my child..."

I feel strange... my mood is dark... and inspiration is back.

This is just a picture of how I feel. Strange, disconnected from the outer world... but ready to kick asses.
